Nizoral (Ketoconazole) is an antifungal drug used for the treatment of systemic mycosis and mucocutaneous candidiasis. Administration of Nizoral into toads and mice induced pronounced alterations in leucocytes. Electron microscopical examination revealed that these alterations are leukaemic alterations and they are more or less similar to the criteria reported in human Leukaemia. The changes were all comparable to those observed after the administration of the carcinogenic chemical 7, 12 dimethylbenz (a) anthracene.
