The experiment was carried out in the north-east (agricultural) and south-west (industrial) parts of Poland. The research material comprised samples of stomach content, liver, kidneys and muscles of 27 hare and 37 pheasant. It was found that the concentration of cadmium and lead in internal organs of pheasant was higher than in hare organism. The concentration of heavy metals in muscle of pheasant and hare was on a low level, considering the European Union limits. Research indicated that in both species lead was cumulated on the higher level than cadmium or mercury
