Vengust, G. | Bidovec, A. (Ljubljana Univ. (Slovenia). Veterinary Fac.)
Conditions of intensive fallow deer breeding in enclosures differ from natural ones. In comparison with domestic animals, fallow deer react to external irritations much more timidly, showing a lot more temperament. As a result they are subject to stressful situations. Stress, one of major factors for the fall in immunity, causes higher susceptibility to diseases. In this article we present the most common diseases that can appear in fallow deer, possibilities for their prevention and the present state health condition in Slovenia.
