Beech and spruce samples 20 x 20 x 30 mm were primary intentionally damaged by one of the brown-rot fungi Serpula lacrymans, Coniophora puteana, Gloeophyllum trabeum. These rotten and also sound samples were subsequently attacked during next 8 weeks by one of the firstly mentioned fungi. Loss of mass DeltaM1, DeltaM2, DeltaM and decrease of compression strength Deltadelta have been used as criteria for evaluation of wood resistance against fungi. Experiments showed that selected brown-rot fungi are able degraded sound and primary rotten wood with a comparable intensity
