Result from the experiment on the efficiency of bio-filter for seawater improvement in an intensive marine shrimp pond, several water quality parameters were decrease into under the water quality standard for coastal aquaculture such as BOD5(20) was decreased from 7.05 to 1.67 mg/l. TN was decreased from 4.212 to 2.7332 mg/l. Chlorophyll a was decreased from 58.40 to 14.96 mg/l. Suspended solid was decreased from 68.48 to 11.84 mg/l. And total bacteria was decreased from 2.0*10*[4) to 1.1*10*[4) CFU/ml. The efficiency of water treatment ranged from 24.8 to 84.8 percent. This bio-filter instrument can be constructed on the dike of one shrimp pond which would be suitable and convenience to small scale shrimp farmers.
