Research on traditional community forest at Ban Pang, Tambon Srivichai, Amphoe Li, Lampoon Province has been proceeded by the working plan schem of community forest the development program in the budgetary year 1995. The Chiangmai Regional Forest Office was decided by the program to select the sites and study in detail on different type of community forest management, so that it can be developed or encouraged as a demonstration project of several types of community forest management in the future. Ban Pang, where the villagers have partially conserved the natural forest for direct and indirect utilization was selected as research site. The study has objectives to analyse the socio-economic situation of the community, management and utilization of forest from past to present and villagers's opinion on future community forest management. In the village has different kinds of forest utilization such as; wood for construction and other forest products for food and income. Most of the villagers have awareness on conserving forest area near their village for different benefits. However the management of local organization of forest conservation and management of forest utilization was not systematic and still lack of efficiency. Therefor it needed to be improved. Supporting from government and non-government organization will be necessary to give information and participate on the village community forest development, so that it could be the good representative of community forest management.
