[Improvement in the Duroc swines while pure-bred breeding and efficiency of its use in crossing]

New methodological approaches are developed to the problem of Duroc swine breed improvement under conditions of the South of Ukraine. Swines of Czech, American, English and Dutch breeding were under study. Creating pedigree herd with improved reproduction abilities of sows is envisaged. Effectiveness of the breed in crossing with the Large White English breed is assessed. As a result of the work, direct use of Czech population as a maternal base and the American, English and Dutch as a paternal one is found to be an effective method of improving the Duroc breed. A new pedigree herd of the Duroc swines of Ukrainian breeding is created that exceeds world analogues by the sows' reproductive ability
