Results are summed up of 25 years studies of the special genetics of type and rate of development of soft wheat in the Breeding and Genetics Inst. of UAAS. Basic genetic systems taking part in controlling the above-mentioned indicator are given. The opportunities are also studied of the use of the genetic diversity in plant breeding according to the Vrn, Ppd genes systems, fast ripening per se and control over the yarovisation need duration
