In the laboratory and greenhouse experiments the influence is studied of increased cadmium rates on the content of the nutrients contrasted according to the resistance to it of hard and soft wheat varieties. It is revealed that at the tillering stage under conditions of increased cadmium rates in the nutritive medium, the content of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and manganese in the leaves and roots, as well as that of copper and zinc in the leaves reduces irrespective of the species' affiliation and the level of the variety's resistance. At the stage of full maturity the influence of cadmium manifests itself in the reduction in the copper and manganese content in grain irrespective of the species' affiliation in both groups of the resistance, as well as iron and calcium content in the non-resistant to cadmium varieties only. Varieties' and species' specific features of the chemical composition of wheat are revealed. They allow to come to conclusion concerning the necessity of taking into consideration physiological and biochemical, as well as genetic peculiarities of the agricultural crops in the course of growing plant products under conditions of cadmium pollution
