[Results of determination metabolizable energy (ME) of some yellow corn for use as poultry feed by direct method]

Yellow corn samples from northern provinces of Vietnam were examined for chemical composition, gross energy (GE) and metabolizable energy (ME) for use as poultry feed. It was found that the chemical composition of yellow corn varied from one province to another. Highest and lowest values of GE and ME were obtained from corn samples from Quan Ba district of Ha Giang province and Hanoi, respectively. The differences in GE and ME determined by both direct and indirect methods were inconsistent. It is, therefore, necessary to determine ME of poultry feed using direct method. Results suggested that it is possible to develop formula for estimating ME value of poultry feed with higher accuracy
