Exploitation of land and water potential for agriculture development on waterlogged lowland areas in the Red River Delta
2000
Ha Hoc Ngo | Nguyen Ich Tan
In rainy season, there are about 70000ha lowland areas in the Red River Delta. A large amount of money was invested in building pumping stations schemes for drainage but productivity of paddy rice in these areas was low and not significantly increased. The application of agricultural diversification models in which excess rainfall water is accumulated in the areas for aquaculture production in rainy season and for crop irrigation in dry season, has demonstrated how to exploit land and water potential of the areas with diverse agricultural products and high return to local farmers
