Effects of Bokashi (EM) product on the animal excretes

The product named Bokashi (EM) which was manufactured by a dry fermentation process was used by mixing in feed and spraying on the animal pens to eliminate the bad odor and to improve the husbandry environment. The assay was carried out in the poultry industry by adding the product into the feed at the concentration of 1 percent and by spraying on the pen floor with a ratio of 50g per m2.The physico-chemical composition of the feces, of the sewage and the micro-climate of the pens were recorded and analysed. The results showed that: The waste was improved, the bad odor was reduced and the putrefaction time lengthened. The H2S concentration in the feces reduced by 2 - 10 times, the lipid concentration was 0.6 - 1.4 percent of the dried material and the water content in the feces reduced by 5 - 20 times. The total protein content in the feces was found higher in the tested poultry than the control one.
