A study on toxic and inhibitory matters effect upon the nutritive value of rapeseed oil meal in broiler feeding

In this investigation, rapeseed oil meal was included in broiler mashes at the level of 4%, 8% and 12% respectively (mashes 1, 2 and 3) as the substitute for the part of soyabean meal in the control group (mash 1). The results showed that rapeseed oil meal used contained very high level, even up to 140.75 micromol/l of total glucosinolates suggesting to the need of controled use of such a meal in feeding. With increasing the shear of rapeseed oil meal in diets the average final broiler mass, average daily weight gain and average daily feed consumption were decreased and feed intake per 1 kg of weight gain was increased as the consequence of the lower conversion of nutritive matters and the presence of glucosinolates, but the performance parameters in all experimental groups were within standards anticipated for this category of poultry. The health condition of broilers was monitored during the experiment and it was good, but it must be noted that there were 2 and 9 dead birds in group 3 and group 4, respectively. This high number of dead birds in group 4 (20%) was caused by high glucosinolate content in the rapeseed oil meal used (140.75 nmol/l) and high share of this meal in diet (12%). On the basis of this results obtained it appears that in spite of high glucosinolate content in rapeseed oil meal the level of 4% in diet had no negative effect on the performance of broilers and that even the level 8% of rapeseed oil meal gave satisfactory results.
