Bojana river [Montenegro, Yugoslavia] as a natural resource of mullet juveniles for aquaculture purposes

A total of 4646 mullet juveniles have been captured during a 10-year study of the mouth region of river Bojana, Montenegro (Yugoslavia). Four mullet species have been identified in the region: Mugil cephalus, Liza ramada, Liza saliens and Chelon labrosus. Liza ramada represents the dominant species, its relative contribution being 72.64%. The relative contribution of Mugil cephalus amounted to 21.70%. The importance of the investigated locality as a natural resource of juveniles for aquaculture has been evaluated on the ground of their size class distribution (class A, or or = 61 mm).
