The fact that mushrooms can accumulate metals, induced the elemental content investigation in the most commonly mushroom species collected in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Cantharellus cibarius Fr., from a point of nutritional and toxicological importance. The results of twelwe metals analyzed in seven samples of Cantharellus cibarius Fr. collected from different Macedonian areas showed that there are big differences in the concentrations of the same metal from the same species, but widely spread in different areas. Bioaccumulations of cadmium are not found in the investigated sample. The lead average values in all the samples were less than the maximum permitted concentrations.
