Checklist of the Belgian centipedes (Myriapoda, Chilopoda)

A checklist of the centipedes (Chilopoda) of Belgium is presented. Thus far, 22 species had been cited for Belgium. In this contribution, Lithobius piceus, Lithobius tenebrosus, Lithobius muticus, Lithobius agilis, Lithobius lapidicola, Lamyctes fulvicornis, Henia vesuviana, Strigamia maritima and Pachymerium ferrugineum are reported for the first time for the Belgian fauna. This brings the total number of centipedes found in Belgium up to 31 species, belonging to 11 genera. If the current checklist is compared with those of the neighbouring countries, however, it can be assumed that still a dozen more species are to be expected in Belgium.
