Investigation of the longitudinal electric treatment of tobacco leaves of the Burley type

A trial system for longitudinal treatment of tobacco leaves with adjustable intensity of treatment is described. The results from laboratory investigations of the water separation in the air drying of tobacco leaves of the Burley type are shown under three ways of electrical action: electric spark treatmrent, treatment by electric current and electric arc treatment. The water separation is demonstrated to run most intensively under the action by electric spark dischanges, the drying in the fresh leaf treatment being accelerated by 8 days, and with the yellowed leaf treatment - by 13 days. The dependences of the relative mass of the tobacco leaves on the time of drying are also demonstrated that they can be presented by exponential functions with negative exponent index, not exceeding by absolute value 0.2.
