Chemical composition of litterfall from stationary sample plots at Yundola, Vitinia and Staro Oriahovo

In 1997 a Bulgarian-Swiss project for assessment of the critical levels for forest ecosystems loading with sulfur and nitrogen compounds started. The report presents a part of the results obtained on the litterfall chemical composition in Norway spruce, beech and oak ecosystems thus characterizing tha stand and atmospheric depositions on the soil surface. Mean values and ranges of variation of chemical element contents as well as of soil pH were established. These parameters are considered to represent element regional concentrations.
