English. The mango ,Mangifera indica L., has been recognized as one tropical fruit important after the citrus and the banana fruits. With the aim of occupying and outstanding line in the exports; it's necessary to generate more investigation in the postharvest of the mango. Traditional labors don't take into account the mannaging of the fruit once cutted the peduncle,therefore tha latex stains the fruit, affecting the quality and causing subsequent sanitary damage to the product. Effects to minimize the damage caused by latex were evaluated in mango ,Mangifera indica L., variety Tommy Atkins. Treatments were as follows: 1, Traditional postharvest system was used as control; 2, the peduncle was cut off to let the latex drop on the soil for 5 sec. and then to let the latex drop on the fruit for 5 sec. and then to let the latex drop on the fruit 3,the peduncle was cut off to let the latex drop on the fruit for 5 sec. and then to let the latex drop on the soil; 4, the peduncle was cut off, the fruits were and inmmersed in calcium sulphate solution ,10 w/v, for 5 min.; and 5, Once the peduncle was cut off, the fruits were inmmersed in calcium sulphate solution ,3 w/v, for 5 min. Then, all the fruits were stored during 20 d at +,- 1°C and 90 relative humidity. After storage, they were esposed during 5 at room temperature in order to simulate marketing time. treatment 4 minimized the percentage of the spot area in the fruit caused by latex ,3 spot area, vs. Treatments 5, 2, 3 and 1 ,5, 7, 10 and 14 spot area, respectively., All the fruits preserved the physical and chemical characteristics during the experiment

Spanish; Castilian. El mango ,Mangifera indica L, ha sido reconocido como uno de los frutos tropicales más importantes después de los citricos y el banano. Con le objetivo de lograr un reglón sobresaliente en las exportaciones, se hace generar más investigación en la postcosecha del mango. las labores tradicionales no tienen en cuenta el manejo del fruto una vez cortado el pedúnculo, por consiguiente el látex mancha el fruto, afectando la calidad y causando posteriormente daño sanitario al producto. Con el fin minimizar el daño causado por el látex en Mango (Magnifera indica L., variedad Tommy Atkins se evaluarón los tratamientos que se describen a continuación: 1, el sistema tradicional postcosecha fue tomado como control; 2, el pedúnculo fue cortado y se permitió que el látex goteara sobre el suelo por 5 seg. y luego goteara sobre el fruto 3, el pedúnculo fue cortado y se permitió que el látex goteara sobre el fruto por 5 seg. y luego goteara sobre el suelo; 4, el pedúnculo fue cortado y los frutos fueron sumergidos en una solución de sulfato de calcio ,10 p/v, por 5 min.; y 5, el pedúnculo fue cortado y los frutos fueron sumergidos en una solución de sulfato de calcio ,3 p/v, por 5 min. Todos los frutos fueron almacenados durante 20 d a 12 +- 1°C y 90 de humedad relativa. Después del almacenamiento los frutos fueron expuestos durante 5 d a temperatura ambiente con le fin de simular el tiempo de comercialización. El tratamiento 4 minimizó el porcentaje de área manchada en el fruto causado por el látex ,3 de área manchada, vs. los tratamientos 5, 2, 3 y 1 , 5, 7, 10 y 14 respectivamente,. Todos los frutos conservaron sus caracteristicas fisicoquímicas durante el experimento
