Productivity of spring barley was increasing under the given conditions of cultivation (humus content 0.8-1.9 %, neutral reaction, micro-plot experiments) with increase of the humus content in soil. A close correlation dependence between the humus content and barley yield was found for soils with humus content ranging from 0.8 to 4.9 % as well as between humus content, rate of nitrogen fertilizer and barley productivity. Close correlations were found also between productivity of spring barlay and selected fractions of soil nitrogen. Gradated nitrogen fertilization did not increase nitrogen content in grain and straw dry matter on any soil.
