In 1991-1992 and 1999, concentrations of 12 foreign substances (Hg, Pb, Cd, Zn, Ni, Cu, Cr, PCB, HCH, DDT and its metabolites, HCB and OCS) were monitored in carp tissues (muscles, liver and genitalia) and in bottom sediments of the Buzicky pond in the Czech Republic. The concentrations of all the studied substances in fish muscles were within the tolerance limits. Statistical evaluation of fish muscle contamination showed lesser values for chromium concentrations in 1999 compared to 1991-1992. An opposite trend was found for DDT and HCH concentrations. Bottom sediments did not indicate any expressive contamination.
