[Drinking behaviour of inhabitants in Ostrava (Czech Republic) and its surroundings]
2002
Svrcinova, P. (Krajska Hygienicka Stanice, Ostrava (Czech Republic))
A non representative sample of 154 persons of all ages (47 men, 107 women) in Ostrava, Czech Republic, were interviewed concerning their drinking habits. The quantities of drunk beverages are high enough, men reporting between 2 and 3 L/day, women between 1 and 2 L/day. This results is probably due to the fact that the interviewed persons are well informed and take care of their health. Women prefer to drink fruit teas, black and green teas, mineral waters and coffee, 73 % of them drink also occasionally alcoholic beverages. Only 39 % of women, but 55 % of men do not drink coffee at all. Men like also to drink mineral and tap water and tea. As expected, men drink alcoholic beverages more often than do women.
