[Practical experience with the use of veterinary drugs against porcine respiratory disease complex in fattened pigs]
2002
Paseka, A. | Jerabek, M.
The use of different combinations of veterinary drugs against porcine respiratory disease complex was evaluated in 26 herds of fattened pigs (all-in/all-out system) with 680 animals in average per herd. The pigs were administered the drugs once a day at 2 pulses with 5-6 weeks between the two pulses. One pulse lasted at least 7 days. The use of medicines led to a lower mortality by 3.76 % and higher weight gain by 34 g in comparison with non-treated piglets. Besides this, the feed intake increased by 170 g and the feed conversion decreased by 0.09 kg/kg weight gain. An effect of the season was also observed. The costs of different drug combinations were also evaluated.
