MIKROP - VLP Zinek premix, a new zinc premix with 395 g of zinc oxide/1 kg was tested on 64 experimental and 64 control weaned piglets. The experimental piglets were given feed with 2,175 ppm of zinc oxide, whereas control animals received feed with only 200 ppm of zinc oxide. Zinc supplementation led to a significantly higher average weight gain by 3.73 % and better feed conversion efficiency by 3.66 % in experimental animals in comparison with the control group. A positive effect of the premix on the health of piglets was also observed as the intestinal flora showed good stability during the first weeks after weaning. It is recommended to supplement the weaned piglets with the premix during 30 days in maximum or untill they achieve 25 kg of live weight. The premix concentration in the compound feed should be 0.5 %.
