Eperythrozoonosis is a world-wide occurring, mostly latent infectious disease. Most outbreaks were reported from the United States and their number increases currently also in West European countries. The infection is not monitored systematically in the Czech Republic, but sporadic cases were recorded in South Bohemia in the eighties and recently. Basic information on the causative agent, pathogenesis, transmission, clinical signs, postmortem findings, diagnostics, and treatment is presented.
