Autoimmune haemolytic anaemia in a dog - a case report
2002
Sosnar, M. | Ruzicka, M. (Veterinarni a Farmaceuticka Univ., Brno (Czech Republic). Klinika Chorob Malych Zvirat)
Immune-mediated haemolytic anaemia is defined as a nosological entity. The disease is often difficult to diagnose due to false results of the Coombs test. Long-term, or even lifelong treatment is complicated by adverse drug effects resulting in a polymorbid patient. Clinical symptoms, diagnostic procedures, and treatment of a three-year-old male hunting dog are described and diagnostic troubles, therapeutic alternatives, and prognosis of the disease are discussed.
