This work studied the influence of meatiness on the reproductive parameters in 94 Czech Large White (CLW) gilts and 33 Landrace (L) gilts. The lean meat percentage was determined by the apparatus PIGLOG105 during a performance test and the day of their successful mating. The number of all born piglets was higher by 10.66 % and the number of weaned piglets was higher by 9.89 % in litters of L sows than in those of CLW sows. A significant difference was also determined in backfat thickness and depth of m.l.l.t. measured the day of the successful mating. There was no relation between the meatiness and reproductive parameters in primiparous sows as the correlation coefficients were very low.
