Bacterial flora of frozen-thawed stallion semen

Frozen-thawed semen from 14 stallion was investigated. Bacteriae from Pseudomonas, Proteus, Bacillus, Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Eschericia, Enterobacter and Corynebacterium genuses were found, which mainly originating from environment. Total number of bacteria in 1 ml was 8,0x10sup(3) - 3,0x10sup(6). Good hygienic conditions during collection and handling prevents contamination of the semen. It indicates that there is no needs for adding antibiotics to the semen extenders
