2001
Hanso, M. | Hanso, S. (Estonian Agricultural Univ., Tartu (Estonia). Forest Research Institute)
The recent years have witnessed a rapid increase in the use of deciduous tree species in forest regeneration in Estonia and its neighbouring countries. In particular, birches (Betula spp.) have been planted for the afforestation of former agricultural fields. Among other challanges, this innovation has posed several new problems to the forest nursery management, incl. protection of seedlings against the young-age diseases of deciduous trees. This paper is the first in Estonia to present the respectivedata on the basis of a literature overview. For the first time the relevant information is published in the Estonian language and thus brought within the reach of the of forest nursery managers, the forest pathologists and the naturalists of this country
