Shape of crown in a middle-aged Vaccinium Scots pine stand

Research was carried out in Somerpalu forest district. The investigated stand of the II site quality class and Vaccinium site type was growing on Podzol. Three study plots were established to measure the characteristics of trees including diameter at breast height, height of live crown and area of live crown and area of crown horizontal projection. The mean shape of crown was asymmetrical, thus the shape of crown in lowdensity pine stands may differ from solid of revolution
