Technical and geoinformational conditions required for precision (site-specific) crop production

Nemenyi, M. | Pecze, Zs. | Mesterhazi, P.A. | Nemeth, T.
The use of precision (site-specific) crop production is spreading slowly but surely throughout the world. This new technology allows a far greater data basis to be compiled and analysed, both for the crop and for its environment, thus opening up new prospects for the use of artificial (technical and geographical) and natural (biological) information systems. Present developments indicate that in 5-10 years'time biological research (e.g. gene technology) will be more important than technical and geoinformational research in this field, too. The paper not only outlines the advantages of the present system of precision (site-specific) farming, but also indicates what technical, geoinformational amd biological research is necessary to achieve further improvements and what conclusions have been reached by the authors on the basis of their current research.
