The conspicuous decrease in using fertilizers for field crops cannot be observed in protected vegetables. A significant part of farms have made a progress, many of them changed over to growing with nutrient solutions. In addition to capital shortage, the biggest difficulty is caused by the poor quality of irrigation water which can be hardly purified costeffectively in vegetable enterprises of 0,5-1 hectares. Besides technical and crop management development, several mistakes are made during production, which can be attributed partly to shortage of knowledge and partly to non-observance of the crop management programmes.
