In the past few years there have been significant changes in seedling production. This develoment is characterised by new soil-mixtures for pots, new sytems for liquid nutrient supply and modern fertilizers. Structure and nutrient content of pot-soils are questions of increasing interest in intensive vegetable growing, influencing development of vegetable seedlings and at the same time crop quality and quantity. In these growing media peat (flat and raised bogs) and physical-chemical properties of other additives, as well as quantity of slow-release fertilizers play an important part.
