Indication of water toxicity with microbiotests
1999
Baskay, I.(Vizelettani Laboratorium, Szazhalombatta (Hungary))
The peculiarity of Toxkits is that they contain the biological material (the test organisms) in "immobilized" or "dormant" form, which can be stored for long periods of time without prejudice to the viability of the biota. The test organisms can be "wakaned" by placing them in welldefined triggering conditions, for immediate use in the toxicity tests. Thest biota of uniform size and age, and in good physiological condition are available on demand, without any need for highly specialized, infrastructure and know-how for culturing/maintenance of live stocks. In this study we used the microbiotests with Danube-water, waste-waters and various pesticides. The most sensitive were the Thamnotoxkit and Daphtoxkit.
