The authors report the diagnosis of abortion in sheep caused by toxoplasmas in Hungary in connection with abortion in large number in a sheep stock. Abortion started in January 1999 in the eastern part of Hungary in a sheep stock of 400 ewes. Previously 80 yearling were bought to the holding from different places. 20% of the animals bought had abortion. Abortion occured in the second half of pregnancy and only among the newly bought animals.
