The term "micro/trace element" originates from the first decade of this century. The rapid development and accuracy of analitical chemical methods resulted in the acceleration of discovery of newer and newer trace elements and previously unknown biological effects of them. On the basis of the precedings the purpose of this review is to describe and discuss some newest biological and physiological roles of the three essential microelements, namely of nickel, molybdenum and chromium.
