[Impact of the Uruguay Round on world and domestic cacao industry]

English. The implementation of commitments related to cocoa on the Uruguay Round has been perceived to have significant impacts on cocoa industry and trade. Estimation of magnitude and distribution of the impacts is important because Indonesia is one of the cocoa major producing countries. A cocoa commodity model was used to estimate the magnitude and distribution of the impacts. The model was specified to consist of 13 sub models in which each sub-model representing a major producing or consuming countries. The results of analysis show that the implementation of the commitments will increase mature area, production, and price of cocoa. On the other hand, the implementation of the commitments will slightly decrease cocoa consumption and trade. Moreover, the positive impacts of the implementation of the commitments will not proportionally distributed. Indonesia will be the most beneficial, while Ivory Coast will be the most suffered from the implementation of the commitments

Indonesian. Pelaksanaan komitmen yang berkaitan dengan kakao pada Putaran Uruguay diperkirakan akan mempunyai dampak yang signifikan terhadap industri dan perdagangan kakao dunia. Oleh karena itu, estimasi terhadap besar serta distribusi dampak tersebut menjadi penting karena Indonesia merupakan salah satu produsen utama kakao dunia. Besar serta distribusi dampak tersebut diestimasi dengan mengembangkan satu model komoditas kakao. Model komoditas kakao tersebut terdiri dari 13 submodel dan masing-masing sub model merepresentasikan sebuah negara produsen atau konsumen utama. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan komitmen tersebut akan mendorong pertumbuhan areal produktif, produksi, dan harga kakao. Namun demikian, pelaksanaan komitmen tersebut akan menurunkan secara marjinal tingkat konsumsi dan perdagangan. Lebih lanjut, manfaat positif dari pelaksanaan komitmen tidak terdistribusi secara proporsional. Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara yang diuntungkan, sedangkan Pantai Gading merupakan salah satu negara yang dirugikan
