In order to study the effect of liming and TSP fertilization on the growth of Velvet bean with aiming to produce green manure, a field experiment was conducted in a highly weathered ultisol. The experiment was carried out at Sembawa Rubber Research Station, South Sumatra, Indonesia. Two sowing dates were chosen, one immediately and the other 4 months after application of P at 200 kg TSP and dolomite at 4.14 tons per ha. Results show that liming and P application affect biomass yield, and plant dry matter obtained ranged from 2.20 to 3.99 tons per ha. Effect of lime to increase the biomass yield is more pronounced than P application. Phosphorus content in dry matter ranged from 0.15 to 0.26 percent was not increased by liming, but content of Ca was obtained a positive correlation with the biomass yield resulting in a linear equation: biomass (tons/ha) = (1.51+-0.23) + 4.37+-0.62) Ca(percent), r= 0.95 **. Sowing delay of 4 months did not influence the biomass production and soil properties observed. Application of a single dose P fertilizer at 200 kg TSP per ha did not affect soil pH and exchangeable Al, but this P treatment is able to contribute the increase of Ca in the plant and in the soil. Combination of a P fertilizer and lime depressed Ca content in plant, but not in the soil
