Functional response of parasitoid Cephalonomia stephanoderis Betr. to coffee berry borer, Hypothenemus hampei (Ferr.)

English. Density-dependent relationship between parasitoid and host is a desirable performance of good parasitoid. In nature, host number rarely remains static. A study on functional response of Cephalonomia stephanoderis Betr. to prepupal and pupal stages of Coffee Berry Borer (CBB). Hypothenemus hampei (Ferr.) was carried out in the Entomologist Laboratory of Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Institute, Jember. To estimate functional response of C. stephanoderis, various population densities of CBB, i.e. 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 individuals were offered to the mated female parasitoid. The results showed that the functional response of C. stephanoderis fitted with the Holling's type. If functional response in which prey consumption increased asymtotically by the increased population of prey or host. The attack rate of C. stephanoderis for both the prepupal and pupal stages of CBB was 0.042 individuals per hour. The handling time of C. stephanoderis on prepupal stage was longer than on pupal stage of CBB, 10.8 and 9.1 hours/individual respectively

Di alam, jumlah inang di suatu tempat dalam kurun waktu tertentu sangat berfluktuasi. Untuk mengetahui respons fungsional parasitoid Cephalonomia stephanoderis Betr. terhadap perubahan populasi penggerek buah kopi (PBKo), Hypothenemus hampei (Ferr.) telah dilaksanakan penelitian di Laboratorium Hama Pusat Penelitian Kopi dan Kakao Jember. Respons fungsional C. stephanoderis dikaji pada kepadatan inang 2, 4, 6, 8 dan 10 ekor prakepompong atau kepompong PBKo/tabung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa respons parasitoid C. stephanoderis terhadap kepadatan populasi PBKo mengikuti model Holling Tipe H yaitu bahwa konsumsi mangsa meningkat asimtotik jika kepadatan populasi mangsa atau inang meningkat. Daya cari C. stephanoderis terhadap prakepompong dan kepompong PBKo tidak berbeda, yaitu sebesar 0,042 PBKo/jam. Walau yang diperlukan C. stephanoderis untuk membunuh prakepompong dan kepompong PBKo pada 24 jam setelah pelepasan adalah 10,8 jam dan 9,1 jam/individu. Semakin lama berasosiasi dengan inangnya (48 jam), waktu yang diperlukan oleh seekor C. stephanoderis untuk membunuh inangnya semakin cepat, yaitu 2,8 jam/individu pada prakepompong dan 3.02 jam/individu pada kepompong
