Response of sugarcane varieties in the pre-seasonal condition for different dates of ratooning

A field experiment was conducted to study the performance of sugarcane varieties viz., Co 740, CoM 88121, Co 7527, Co 8014, Co 86032 Co 8371, Co 8011 and Co 8021 in the preseasonal planting for different dates of ratooning. viz., 15th November, 15th January and 15th March. The released sugarcane varieties CoM 88121, Co 740 and Co 86032 recorded significantly higher cane and sugar yield over Co 7527 and Co 8014. Cane yield was significantly less in March ratoons as compared to January and November ratoons. The interaction effect due to varieties and time of ratooning was found to be significant in respect of cane yield and number of milliable cane at harvest.
