Economics of intercropping of soybean and cowpea in sorghum

The highest gross monetary returns (Rs. 25479 ha-1), sorghum grain equivalent yield (40.77 q ha-1) and LER (1.68) were obtained with normal planting of sorghum at 45 cm and one row of cowpea as intercrop in between the rows of sorghum. The increased benefits are 19.33 per cent for gross monetary returns and 19.88 per cent for sorghum grain equivalent yield over sole sorghum.
