Effect of environmental measures on stability analysis in pea

One hundred advance powdery mildew resistant lines of pea along with five checks were raised in unreplicated augmented randomised block design in five micro environments. Combined analysis of variance revealed the presence of g X e interaction for seed yield/plant, 100-seed weight, pods/plant, fertile nodes/plant, biological yield/plant, fertile nodes/plant, biological yield/plant, harvest index, specific leaf weight, leaf area, days to flowering, days to maturity and reproductive phase. Both linear and non-linear interactions were present for all the traits exhibiting g X e interaction. The proportion of liner and non-linear interactions, and the distribution of genotypes for the presence, absence and type of interaction present had shown that there was insignificant change in the adaptability analysis using dependent and independent measures of environmental index. Significant association of adaptability parameters estimated by using dependent measure with those estimated using independent measure for all the traits, and positive association of dependent and independent measurers of environment index also indicated that there was little influence of environmental measures on adaptability analysis. This was further confirmed by the non-significant assessment X environment mean square in the alternate two-way anova between environment and assesment for all the traits except specific leaf weight. It can be concluded that the changes in environmental measure may alter the magnitude of the adaptability parameters of the genotypes but it has very little effect on the relative ranking and significance of adaptability parameters of the genotypes.
