Evaluation of tomato varieties against jassid (Empoasca devastans), white fly (Bemesia tabaci) and leaf curl

Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) is one of the common vegetables all over country. It is most severely damaged by jassid, Empoasca devastans Distant, white fly, Bemesia tabaci Genn. and leaf curl, resulting in heavy losses. Therefore studies were undertaken at the Zonal Agricultural Res. Station, JNKVV., Morena, to find out less susceptible varieties. On the basis of population of jassid, white fly and virus infection varieties PUSA ruby, Pusasheetal and Pusa gaurav were found promising ones and inturn registered high yield. Pusa ruby was found outstanding in all aspects amongst all the varieties. Population of insect vector played an important role in leaf curl.
