Effect of crop residues on phosphorus availability to potato in acid soil

Green house studies on the efficacy of 3 labelled P carriers in potato as affected by 9 different crop residues revealed a positive effect of P carriers and crop residues on uptake of P and S. Radio assay data indicated that organic residues were able to enhance P and S availability from soil source, data on leaf P content at 35 and 70 days showed an increase of 12-30% with application of P. 32P assimilation in leaf was closely related with % Pdff and % P utilization.
