[Polyploidy in perennial ryegrass and meadow fescue breeding]

In previons investigations it was established that the most effective way to create tetraploids is to treat swollen seeds with 0.05 colchicine solution for 8 h with following elimination of diploid forms according to morphological features, the size of pollen grains and seeds. The tetraploids of the best breeding numbers and varieties of perennial ryegrass and meadow fescue were created and tetraploid populations were formed and tested in the breeding nurseries and initial variety testing in 1996-2000
