Several measures for increasing reproductive efficiency were used to assess the reproductive performance of the DTRI herd from 1964 to 1968, and also to obtain some data which may serve as useful guides in making sound management decisions for the improvement of the herd. The criteria followed in the assessment were defined and reliable records were used. In a period of 5 years, the average age of the cows at first calving was 33.8 months. The conception rate was 1.89 services per calf born. An average of 85.8 percent calf crop was obtained. The cows were open for an average of 157.7 days and had average calving interval of 440.7 days. The average number of days dry and the dry-milking cow ratio was 136.2 and 1:2.44, respectively. More animals in heat were observed during the months of Dec to May. Likewise, more calvings occurred from Nov to Jan. However, apparently there was no trend in either the mating or calving seasons of the herd. The sex ratio of all calves born in 5 years was one female for every 1.2 males. The average birth weights of the male and female calves were 27.0 and 25.6 kgs, respectively. The average birth weight of all calves born was 26.4 kgs
