Population of fruitfly, bactrocera (Dacus) Zonatus saund. (Diptera: Tephritidae) infesting guava under different agro-ecological conditions of Sindh, Pakistan

The present studies on seasonal population of fruit fly, Bactrocera (Daces) zonatus and pheromonal monitoring on guava fruits grown under different agro-ecological conditions were carried out at Tando Jam, Larkana and Karachi during 1996. The studies showed that guava fruitfly, Bactrocera (Daces) zonatus infest guava fruit during January- March. The highest percent infestation (45.71 %) was recorded at Karachi followed by (38.67 %) and (26.09 %) at Tandojam and Larkana, respectively. The studies on monitoring of adult male fruitflies using lure/toxicant mixture in guava orchards also showed the highest number of fruitflies (9650)/trap captured at Karachi followed by (3102) and (1890) at Tandojam and Larkana, respectively during March.
