Content of mineral elements and nutritive value of grassland reclaimed by strip sowing

The impact of overdrilled red clover, cv. Vesna into grass sward on nutrients content in dry matter and energy value of forage was studied in a three-years field trial. Two types of drills were utilized: SE 2-024 (making a strip width and depth of 50 mm) and functional drill model (marked FV) which can make strips of width and depth of 50-100-150-200 mm. The fastest development of red clover in the sward was found at strip width and depth 150 mm. Kilogramme of sward dry matter (forage with red clover) contained 185 g crude protein, 202.5 fibre, 19.5 g phosphor, 19.5 g potassium and 14.7 g calcium which means an increase of 6.4% crude protein, 4.3% phosphorus and 15.7% calcium and a decrease of 1.36% fibre and 8.3 potassium in comparison with control (untreated variant). Grass/clover sward has taken by the yield 234.5 kg of nitrogen, 26.7 kg of phosphor and 159.8 kg of potassium from hectare of soil annually while undrilled control 170.6 kg of nitrogen, 23.2 kg of phosphorus and 139.6 kg of potassium. Values of metabolisable energy and PDI (10.617 MJ and 101.1 g.kg-1) are accurate and sufficient for good quality forage for animal nutrition
