Parameters of milk efficiency in crosses of the Slovak Pied breed with the Holstein Red cattle according to sire's genetic background were compared. Daughters of pure-bred sires (mainly the Fleckvieh) produced in the same herds and seasons as daughters of sires-crosses of the Slovak Pied with the Holstein were kept in identical production conditions. In the 1st lactation statistically highly significant effect (P0.01) of herd, year of calving, herd and sire's genetic background interaction, lactation days and age at 1st calving on the production of milk and its components were determined by analysis of covariance. Sire's genetic background significantly (P0.05) or highly significantly (P0.01) influenced only the production of proteins or content of proteins. Difference in production of proteins was 2 kg and difference in content of proteins was 0.06 g/100 g in favour of daughters of pure-bred sires. On the contrary, in 2nd to 5th lactations daughters of crossbred sires achieved better milk yield parameters (except for content of proteins which was the same in both analysed groups). Differences in milk production (141 kg), in production of fat (8.7 kg), in production of proteins (5.2 kg) and fat content (0.07 g/100 g) in favour of crossbred sires' daughters were found. Milk production variability in dependence on interaction of sire's genetic background x herd was observed in the analysis of the 2nd up to 5th lactation also
