1999

Studies on integrated weed management in cotton were conducted at Kasetsart University Bangkhen campus, Bangkok, Kamphangsaen campus, Nakhon Pathom province and Corn and Sorghum Research Station, Nakhon Ratchasima province during May 1994 - April 1998. The objectives of studies were to investigate on the appropriate number of hand weeding in cotton field and weed conttrol by herbicides. Pre-emergence herbicides, diuron, norflurazon, oxyfluorfen and pendimethalin, post-emergene herbicides for broadleaf weed control acifluorfen, bentazon, dicamba, fomesafen, imazaquin and imazethapyr, post-emergence herbicides for grassy weed control fenoxaprop, fluazifop-butyl and MSMA were used in these studies. It was found that the number of optimum hand weeding is twice at 15 and 45 days after planting at Corn and Sorghum Research Station and once at 45 days after planting at Kasetsart University, Kamphangsaen campus. The pre-emergence herbicides gave good weed control were pendimethalin and diuron at the rate of 2 kg ai/ha, post-emergence herbicides for broadleaf weed control were fomesafen and acifluorfen at 0.5 kg ai/ha and post-emergence herbicides for grassy weed control were fluazifop-buyl at 0.375 kg ai/ha and fenoxaprop at 0.188 kg ai/ha when applied at 30 days after emergence. The integrated herbicides gave great weed control were pendimethalin at 2 kg gi/ha followed by direct spray of post-emergene fomesafen at 0.5 kg ai/ha in combination with fluazifop-butly at 0.375 kg ai/ha applied at 30 days after emergence, as well as diron at 2 kg ai/ha followed by direct spray of post-emergence acifluorfen at 0.5 kg ai/ha in combination with fluazifop-butyl at 0.375 kg ai/ha apllied at 30 days after emergence.
